Celebrating What Grows Beneath Your Toes...

The Mad River Localvores

Mad River Localvores: Celebrating and supporting local food along the Mad River Valley- those who grow it, those who prepare it, and those who eat it. With our rising dependence on fossil fuels, degradation of the environment and advancing national health crisis, there is a pressing need for a model of change. Through ongoing community education and collaboration, the Mad River Localvores aim to increase local food production and consumption, improve the physical health of our community members and foster community connections around a sustainable and community supported food system.

Mad River Localvore Foodshed Map

For a hard copy of the map, pick up a copy of the 4-Season Guide throughout the Valley or at any of the Vermont Welcome Centers. The accompanying Farm Grid lists each of the farms and provides contact information including a website address, e-mail and phone number. There are also details about the products grown/raised/produced by each of the farms as well as info about visiting the farm and where you can buy their products. This map is maintained and funded by the Mad River Localvores. We are grateful to June Anderson, publisher of the 4-Season Guide, for being a huge supporter of this project. Thanks also to Ben and Jerry's Foundation and the VT Department of Agriculture for grants that initially funded the project. Download the Foodshed Map or Farm Grid as a PDF Map

View the interactive Google Map of our food shed that matches the printed form.
